As Sunday April 14, 2019 approached I was unsure whether I should add the television package that includes HBO so I could see the last season of Game of Thrones. I thought that I could wait until it aired on iTunes, but the thought of reading or hearing spoilers was bothering me. What should I do?
You would have to be under a rock or on the moon not to know that Game of Thrones season 8 was finally airing and we will find out who will end up on the iron throne or who was going to die with the battle with the white walkers.
I never thought that Game of Thrones would be a show that I would be interested in watching. I did not have HBO so I did not know what I was missing. It was the fall of 2017 when I received a promotional code to access TMN/HBO for 30 days. I am not one to watch a movie or television show that has lots of hype, but I decided to watch the first episode of Game of Thrones. After watching the first episode I was hooked. I was able to watch the first season in that 30 day period. It was not until 2018 that I decided to get the movie channel that included HBO for a promotion that gave new subscribers 50% off the regular price. Within that period I was able to complete watching season 2 to 7. All I had to do was wait until season 8 aired. I did not realize that the wait would be so long.
It was 6:50pm on Sunday April 14, 2019 that I decided to call my cable company to get the television package. I called the number and the message I received was that the wait would be around 10 to 15 minutes before I could speak to someone. Well that 10 to 15 minutes turned into 40 minutes. When I finally spoke to someone he knew exactly why I was calling. Apparently I was not the only that wanted to watch Game of Thrones.
I think my heart was racing throughout the first episode. I had a hard time sleeping that night and my mind was all over the place the next day. I do not think that I have would be so affected the final episodes of a television show before. The end of episode 2 sets up the next episode for a major battle. When the final episode airs on May 19, 2019 I do not know how I will feel. Thank goodness the following day is a holiday in Canada, so I have a day to recover.
